Just want to note that ELO calculations should never be static. Like always +10 for a builder win or -10 for a loss etc. A really good titan winning vs a lobby of first timers should always give 0 for example (being drastic).

Split it into two, titan elo and builder elo. If ent doesn't support 2 elo stats you could make them both into 1 for example: TTTT.BBBB elo
Where titan elo is the non decimals and builders the decimals, easy fix.

This is applicable for games that have players at all elo brackets. ID isn't such a game.

That's the point of an ELO system. If you're not tracking based on the skill of one player vs another then you might aswell just have builder w/l and titan w/l and no number whatsoever. It's meaningless to have it static.

Versuing good titans can be fun if team-mates don't shit-base and titan doesn't feed off noobs.

It's not a challenge if it isn't reliant on your ability to win, but your team-mates not making mistakes.

ELO calculations themselves are up to ENT.
That seems too easy - even for you.

You know ENT pretty much follows your lead when it comes to ID. If you've (or anyone else) a better formula for ELO calculation bot-sided, please present it.

ELO is something the ENTID community wants, not something I want. You should be listening to the players in this regard, not me.

So if ELO is useless/unbalanced and Neco doesn't 'care', anyone here who has a good formula or can we finally get just rid of it?

Formula is fine.

Like all metrics it is inherently flawed. Just because somebody is 2k (ex. Jimharbargh or whatever his name was) doesn't mean they are gosh just like -100 doesn't mean they're insta lose.

The actual formula uakfb uses is under github.com/uakfdotb/ent-usefulscripts in the update w3mmd folder.

Actually it does, I wouldn't mind tower basing with anyone above 2k.

Same can not be said about everyone under 2k.
Thing about people not being bad under 2k is true though. Although, win rate matters.

#Math

I don't think you understand how hard it is to get to 2k atm. Shit takes years to get to unless you have, like, a 75%+ win rate. In both cases, it probably makes you good.

For sure it takes some dedication to get 2k+ elo, but really even most noobs have 75% or higher win if they never titan. Also just anecdotally; when I started playing island defense again about a year ago, hash had ~1500 elo, now he's what like 2900 or some shit.

Why bring up Hash? He is one of the top builders when he isn't high. He also doesn't ever titan, which means he never loses big chunks.

Also, show me 5 "noobs" who has 100+ games with 75% win rate, ty. Also, I said "probably".

My intent was to show the most extreme case aka hash, I wasn't trying to make a statement like "if hash can do it anyone can!".

He isn't an extreme case, though. He is a good player who carries a lot of his games.

There is no such thing as a noob 2k player. Every 2k player could've been comfortably vouched in 309d ENTID inhouses, no doubt about it.

And the 309d ENTID inhouses were one of the best inhouses I've seen, because it was a combination of the best players in both east and europe. Better than IDG, Mbot & west inhouses. Although I've only seen a total of one Mbot inhouse.

Lol it doesn't seem like I should need to comment again on this, but what I meant by extreme case is that he is extremely good at farming elo. This means he is good at picking which games to play, but also that he plays well in them. It's also almost funny that you keep insinuating that I don't have any grasp on his skill seeing as how I've played ~1000 games with the guy in a year. Anyways this is a really dumb conversation and not the point of this thread so let's please stop now.
