Hi everyone, i created this topic although there is a similar one. It is in the approved section, yet it seems to be forgotten, as far as i can tell.
I'm observing the activity on ENT61 for a long time, and i think there are some easy changes which could better the experience for everyone!
The remains of the once great battleships community with many clans and mods are today bound together by the ENT bots hosting cf and pro, and thanks to that, it is still possible to have games. Sometimes you even meet old mates from the great era of bships, first of all, thanks to ENT for that.
I think there is a huge potential for more activity on ENT61. So what is the problem at the moment?
- Many people leave games as soon as it becomes obvious the enemy team has better teamplay.
- People tend to stack games. To avoid being frustrated by weak players, 80% of games are decided before they start.
- We do not get new players to play on the bot regularly. They are being blamed, flamed, and kicked all of the time.
Suggestions:
1.
I think we really need a strict autoban. Some first timers and trolls who don't give a f**k will always leave, which is bad enough. But i am sad to say that some people who play alot on ENT61 now tend to leave a game instantly when they are frustrates by low skilled team members, or they feel like the other team is just too strong and they won't stand a chance anyway. There is no motivation for them to stay inside the game, and to help and teach new players, because they can simply leave and join lobby again. With a need to stay and play those games, i think the general attitude towards new players would change. I would even say the demanded stayrate should be really high, maybe 75%, because there is no valid reason to have a lower stayrate in this game. Given the time we sometimes wait in lobby, and the fact games can sometimes take really long, no other game i know of needs autoban more!

No matter if the suggested elo system will be installed or not, i think automatic !votebalance would be great. Even without stats, and as a random shuffle, it solves a problem we have at the moment: game stacking. People instantly try to join the stronger team after joining lobby. I can't blame people for not wanting unknown people in team that might ruin the game. But again... this is the second invitation to flame and votekick new players (see 1.). It is common practise to leave lobby, and wait for the next game if the first four good players joined one team. It is just unlikely to have 3 other players on that level to join after you, you always have someone who does not know the game that well, and tada... game is decided before it even started. If everyone knows he can't avoid having new and unknown players in his team sometimes, it would change the attitude on them from sheer hostility to a more constructive manner. At the moment, the easiest way to win most games is to kick the weakest player, enjoy his gold afterwards, and hope enemy team wont kick their weakest player. It literally rewards abuse of kick. This can't be what we want.

Elo would really be great. It would be the third factor that keeps people from leaving and kicking new players all the time. Anyhow, it's simply fun to have ranks and a more competitive feeling. Once the system has some stats, it would also help to balance the games.
Sorry for the long post, no potato.

Awaiting input for !votebalance (randomize)
Autoban won't be adjusted. Elo implementation might not be done either, despite being in "Awaiting Implementation". Will consider it, though.
