High Elo (True skill or playing a lot)
High Elo (True skill or playing a lot)
Ive played and beaten many of the higher elo players multiple times as of now, and I see this trend of them having more than 200 plus games as a minimum. In my opinion most of them are not that great and they tend to leave games in the preload room when things are not in their favor. A good example of such would be Unico and 13ankai both players have many games played and both usually attempt to stack teams in their favor and leave when this fails. What are your opinions about players like this, I don't mind arranged teams. I want your opinions and mainly adventureclub's since he seems to be at the top as of now
Re: High Elo (True skill or playing a lot)
Actually, I don't find "elo" as "skilled" because I rather take a positive KDA over ELO. Simply AdventureClub is a example of a "skilled" player because he carries his team to victory than receives his winnings. I understand what you're trying to say about others trying to stack as a team, only thing why is because they don't want to lose their elo in that lost; and it comes to the fact they try to stack as a team because they want to overpower the other team who hadn't played with together and take that elo and strive to our ENT Top 10 rankings.

Re: High Elo (True skill or playing a lot)
I have to agree with slayax. When i see a high elo people i usually go to the opposing team so that i play AGAINST them. You really dont get better going against lower skilled opponents, i wanna see if they are really worth their high elo. I dont even know what elo usually represents, to me it doesnt represent skill.
Like if you are a 'SUPPORT' player you usually have more death than kills, but your assist should be high in numbers. ELO doesnt show that, it only shows K:D and games W:L.
I usually ignore sum1's elo and i look at their K:D and their creep stats K:D:N i can sumwhat gauge their skill based on those numbers. But thats just me, like today on one of the games i played, there were 2 ppl on the opposing team with 1450+ elo that i played against as techies. My guess was that they were just going for kills, so they spent all their time ganking, and i would just go to the opposite farthest lane and push their towers. I was amazed at how many towers they let me push for such "HIGH" elo players, i wouldve thought they knew better, which brings me to SLAYAX's point HIGH ELO =/= SKILLED.

normally when i judge skill I look at average cs both creep score and denies. also average assists. I really dont think high k/d represents skill because imo a support hero should die for a carry at all costs.
But you both are right and wrong. Elo doesnt necesarily mean skill, its an estimate of skill. THere isnt really a rating that will truly represent a players skill because #1 dota is a team game and you are only as good as your entire team.

Well said. Also people in pubs dont usually know what role they are playing, like they would ping spam me when i play roaming support stunner (ES, VS) on the early game, they would call me a noob and tell me off to go to another lane. It really is a pub mindset that they would rage when they dont see lanes conform to 2/1/2 (top/mid/bot). People would rage when they see 1/2/2 or
1/1/1 w/ 2 junglers. Its like 2/1/2 is the LAW in pubs.

Re: High Elo (True skill or playing a lot)
Idk, I only have 72 games and i'm at 1500 elo, and I actually lose quite a bit. Although I don't think ELO has actually anything to do with skill level, I'm just saying a lot of games doesn't necessarily equal a lot of elo, or lack thereof when you only have a small amount of games. Best skill indicators imo are game mode played, i.e. non-em or em, and creep denies.
Re: High Elo (True skill or playing a lot)
Lots ppl hacks 2day,u can't find a real dota game in bn. Dota is outdated . Dota should last at lease 50 min 1 game but now normally finish in 20min. Leavers feeders noobs everywhere , no 1 will stay til end.
Re: High Elo (True skill or playing a lot)
That statement was completely false rofl, dota's entire meta game has transitioned to push oriented strats, so the fact that games are ending earlier is really indicitive of how dota has changed as a game. Though I know in pubs, games ending that early isn't because of team play, but instead just skill difference between the two teams, but again, its a pub for a reason.

I get what you mean. I myself has 1700+ elo, the problem lies on when other high elos want to be high elo only. I playedd with 13ankai too multiple times. But i played more with silent2j, akkii. , ningyohime whenver if i can, not just that i also teamed with i3roker, incredible-aq both of which are not as high elo as the other two. It is just a friendship that dota created. But if you ask me what elo really means to me, it is nothing. What i really care about a player's true skill is their Creep Stats, especially their *DENIES*. if a player does not have a suitable deny for the elo, i do not fear.

Re: High Elo (True skill or playing a lot)
ELO really just means how often you win. I've seen a few players with xxxx games, but about 1k ELO, meaning their wins/losses were pretty much neutral with each other. But if you play on a stacked team, you hardly win any ELO. K/D/A is an important aspect, but that system is easy to go around with all the KSing and/or fountain farming that goes on in games. Creep denies are significant too, but it really depends on the game mode. In EM, denying creeps in your lane doesn't cripple your opponent as much as it would in non-EM. Therefore, players who usually play EM are less inclined to deny creeps. So there's that too.
