LTD 1vs1 & LTD 2v2
When picking a mode other than the default one (-hpgmcb prophet or -phgmcb), the mode setter (red) must announce it in the lobby before the game starts. Every player must be informed, so they have the opportunity to leave in case of dislike.
I think we need a change to this rule. This rule allows the following situation. A player specializes in some weird mode that noone else has played. He picks the red slot and blocks the queue. Noone else can play on the 1v1 bot until someone agrees to play that weird mode. For example, one of the top players on 1v1 always plays -apgm (specialized a race) and blocks the queue until someone agrees to this mode.
I think if there is no agreement to the non-default mode, the red slot should either play the default mode or leave the game allowing others to play.

@bratmi are you just concerned about this situation to happen or is there an actual issue right now?
If so, please provide proofs.

@Jabba41 Thanks for the quick response.

This player is only playing -apgmx3 mode. Every time he takes the red slot, until someone agrees to this mode noone can play on the bot. I don't mind that he wants to play ap, if that is what he wants to play it's ok. But it is unfair to other players to be forced to either play his mode or wait. In my personal opinion, games in different modes should not even be included in the ranking, as its harder by far to play prophet and have to deal with bad rolls every other game, than to pick your race (*cough*malformation*cough*).

Re: [LTD] 1v1 mode rule
I honestly don't see a problem with this. The last 10 games of his have all started quite fast (looking at lobby chats found from stats page). Are you sure this is as big of a problem as you think, @bratmi ? Maybe more people are OK playing that mode than you think.
As for changing it so that only the default mode is shown on leaderboard, I don't think that is possible.

Re: [LTD] 1v1 mode rule
Edit: TL DR I just think that in case one of the players wants to play a different mode, it is him that should wait and not the one that wants to play the default mode. This is what seems natural to me, and the rule does not allow it. I do not have enough data on how much waiting is occurring as of now and how big of an issue it is, but it takes just a slight change to the rule to fix it.
@Haunt Out of said last 10 games, 5 of his opponents were surprised/unaware/unhappy to play the mode. One game was drawn at min 0, and one was def win at min 0. I was also one of his last 10 opponents and if you count me, that makes 6 (60%). When he suggested me to play this mode I didn't like it, but decided to agree to play it so I can sort of ... "punish" him.
You are right that games did start fast though, but as it can be seen, this is because people sometimes just don't expect the different mode. There are also those who play only an hour or two to rest from a hard day and prefer to play a mode that they don't like than wait and not play at all. Does this mean we should let players like him exploit this to get easy wins until others start paying more attention? In any case, I think that those who do pay attention should not have to wait for him, but the other way around.
Edit 2: His last game is with b0zata, who is my friend. He thought that he would be able to report him, since red typed a mode he didn't agree on before the game started. This is when i checked the rules and found that actually, he cannot report him, but has to wait for the next game.

Re: [LTD] 1v1 mode rule
I definitely agree with the part of the suggestion to not allow ELO change in other than the default mode, that includes also 4v4 games (hybrid is waay too random, -ap also includes more rng than the prophet).

Apparently, red has done a bad job announcing the game mode change. Therefore, he can be reported for it.bratmi wrote:Out of said last 10 games, 5 of his opponents were surprised/unaware/unhappy to play the mode. It's easier to enforce the rule this way than the other way around. Also, the likelihood of a weird mode being used should be rather low.
Please also keep in mind that this rule is also enforced by general rules and applies to any autohosted game of ENT.
