Maphack in Legion

Postby dweiler » Sat Jun 29, 2013 10:22 am

After reading what Furbolg said in his unvouch, it got me thinking. He said this:

Unlike Dota, mh is untrackable in legiontd if the user has an IQ over 50.

In my opinion, this is true. There is no way to track someone maphacking in legion. This could be a huge problem for the LIHL, because people can cheat easily without getting caught.

I can think of one solution, but this will change the entire game-play in the LIHL: no more mm-mode.

What do you guys think? Is mh a problem in legion, should measures be taken because people can cheat easily, or is it fine as it is? Looking forward to read some responses.

How is that done? If it is something that can "just" be done, can you do it for us? :D

If not, I think it would be nice to remove the mm mode in legion, to eliminate any rumours of mh and make it fair for all.

Yes it will make some changes to the gameplay, making people more responsive and alert in the start in order to adapt to the opponents apparent send strats/builds, but that's a good thing imo.

Getting caught requires you click the enemy units. Why would you ever do that? Try spectating a lihl game. Thats what mh would look like. Scroll your mouse across the map. No chance of clicking an enemy. Ever. And even if you do (you dont, if your skilled), enemies need fogclick detect. How many players have fogclick detect in lihl. 5-10 players?

In dota its much harder not to click, since you are clicking around to micro all the time.

Beepboopbeep does cheat. Theres no way of justifying those stats in a game format like legiontd, a game with so few variables. Everyone in lihl are highskilled/pro. They are the top 1% of the public server players.

Raizen did post evidence, but; if u dont click ur not guilty. So is he just lucky or does he have a 6th sense?

Lets look at the facts. The 2nd highest active player right now has 1250 elo (Ba_Fail). Beepboopbeep has 1550. 50% more than #2. You cant justify those stats in any way. Lihl players are not noobs or dumb. He would need a huge edge on the rest of the field to obtain and maintain this elo. How do you get a HUGE edge on every single player in a pro league? You cant control your units; its about building and sending

So lets look at what advantages mh would give you in legion td. Pre 20; small advantages. To overbuild lvl 1 or not, sending 1-2-3-5-7-8-10. This would give you a few % edge on your opponents

After lvl 20; huge advantage. After lvl 20 its often a gamble when to send, since you dont know what they RR or if they RR. Knowing the t6 of your enemies would tell you when to send with extreme high accuracy. Longrun this would give you a huge advantage, everytime you go past lvl 20 (Thats about 50% of all games)

Talking with other players gave me the impression that a lot of players agree, except his friends.

Him being a super active moderator does give him a lot of good-will from the other admins, understandably

I personally have nothing against Beepboopbeep, we have always been fine. But I dont mind being the whisteblower in this case; If it seems too good to be true, it probably is

Stating that someone would cheat simply for the reason that this guy has by far the highest ELO is pretty lame tho. I don't know how it was on the start of the season, but maybe Beep was better than anyone at this time cause some people weren't used to this style of games? Or maybe he simply "never" makes mistakes, while almost everyone else does some every other game. Starting with never missing 1-5 gold for a specific tower, always making perfect guesses whether these towers hold or not, making best calls when to send etc.
There's sure room to be better than anyone else in every aspect of this game, even if it is only marginal, it will make you win more often than the rest of the players. And a win rate of 62% isn't even THAT much better, instead of winning 5 out of 10 games, he is winning 6 out of 10 games .. but that "small" difference means a huge boost in ELO.

or simply make some sample checks where an admin shows up and ask a player to upload his replay?

no mm would make the game blow hard :(

This thread was ment as a discussion on the possibility to mh in general, not to single out a player. I will kindly request to not accuse players in this thread - I will remove those posts.

I like Izno's idea a lot. I am not expertised enough to know if the replay shows no fog if the user uses his maphack in the game. But if does, I think this is a really good suggestion.

If you play no mm mode you have to micro play alot more; build last second; send last second; no boost on income; know when enemy`s up king. Yes you single out the use of MH but you take away the joy of play. Is it worth it? Its up for debate but imo id prefer the current modes even if that means some people might use mh.

lols furbolg because I'm the #1 player it make's me a maphacker, first it was me plug pulling, then it was me changing my IP to play different accounts? now it's maphack and being compared to Lance Armstrong. I didn't think i was that good.

I'll stay on topic though, i have played a few games in public with no mm-mode and it make's me rage so for the growth of LIHL i don't think that being implemented is a good idea, takes the fun and excitement out of games for me.

Like agreements idea no sense in talking about any other thing like no mm the only way to fix the issue is to have a mh detection program on legion.

Although I don't like how people keep attacking beep about being a maphacker, I can see why they would think that. Even though I have very strong reasons to believe he map hacks, there shouldn't be all these accusations unless there is a replay to back it up.
