Hey everyone!
As the title indicates, I've made the decision that it is time to move on. ENT has been around since April 8, 2012. Members of the community came running to volunteer their time in order to provide our community with bots, stats tracking, game moderation, leagues, tournaments and countless other services. ENT has not been perfect. It's had its difficulties down the road, but everyone - staff members and players alike - has walked toward the same goal to provide for a fun and entertaining gaming environment.
Being a part of the staff for so long has given me a one-sided perspective. A perspective wherein I mostly dealt with the negative side of things like ban requests, complaints, ban appeals due to 'unjustified bans', etc. However, I never forgot the reason behind all of it. It may only be a game, but if people came here to post ban requests or ban appeals or complaints, it is because they care about this game and this community. They, too, wanted to make it a 'better' place, one wherein it would be the most fun and most competitive place to enjoy playing. Being able to see this side of the medal is the reason why many other staff members and I have stayed around for so long.
However, we must not blind ourselves to the reality that Warcraft III and ENT have become. The community has shred by a lot over the years. People moved on. The recent patch updates - most notably the latest one - have not helped the situation. ENT is no longer the community it once was, but it is only normal... After all, Warcraft III was first released in July 2002. It is a miracle that people are still playing it up to this date, but it goes to show how passionate and tenacious this community has been.
We were happy to be on the status-quo for years, but the recent patches have rendered this situation untenable. @uakf.b , the founder of ENT and the genius who has reverse-engineered WCIII in order to code the bots you've all grown acquainted to, is no longer actively around. We haven't had a tech guy to implement meaningful stuff in years. Many of the staff members have moved on, and many of the remaining ones, including myself, have lost their passion. At this point and for the reason above-mentioned, I believe ENT no longer has a purpose to be. We do not know much about reforged yet. We do not know if there will be an influx in new players, nor what Blizzard will implement on the technical side to compensate for all of the utilities that the bots have brought to the game. We do not know either if there will be a purpose for an outside community. However, and if there is a need for it, I believe it is best that it rises on its own, with passionate players, just like ENT did in 2012. Our discord server will remain in place as a way for everyone to keep in touch and discuss about any potential way forward.
I've decided to passively shut ENT down, meaning we will no longer moderate our games starting tomorrow. You will still be able to play but game quality is expected to go down until we finally pull the plug. As I said, the discord server will remain as a way to keep in touch. This passive shut down will also allow players (and most notably LIHL) to slowly migrate toward battle.net.
I would like to specifically thank @aRt)Y , for the tremendous job he's done as upper staff over the years. A true pillar of the community, whom I have not once seen lose his cool.
Special shout-out to @Haunt , @matdas and @Merex (Av1oN), who have all been staff for longer than I can tell. A big thanks to @Jabba41 @nabo. @Beerlord @FalenGa @Unitil @Hyo @RadiantCrystal and the rest of the staff and ex-staff alike, who've dedicated countless of hours to this community.
Finally, cheers to every players and donors alike who have also participated in making this community what it's been over the years.
It's been an hell of a ride. Best of luck to everyone

Oh the irony of ent shutting down the day after kk is let back in...
Well Haz, you may be a soccer loving socialist, but you ran a good ship. Best of luck to you and all of my former staff-mates.

Re: ENT shutting down
It's been a hell of a run.
From the start of my journey into ENT around late 2013 to now, it's end of 2019, I've had some bumps in the road no doubt but in the end I chose to stay loyal to ENT and seeing us move on is for the best. Never ideal to see a community shut down but at-least I can take pride in knowing that myself alongside my fellow existing staff (Notably haunt, falen, haz & mat) were here to stay and made great things happen over the years. But of course, I'll still not forget the ones that have moved on, as-well.
And to the rest - A note to me to the remainder of our community; I know some of you have mixed feelings on the staff. And I see it through the suggestions, the complaints, the appeals and even on our own discord about our activity/commitment and I want you guys that hold this feeling to know - I personally never stopped caring for ENT. I know my activity was low and honestly I could sit here and make excuses but the sole reason behind it was lack of motivation. I've been a member on this forum for over 4 years and in that time I've done my part and I guess I've simply just deteriorated in my activity and let our situation get the better of me and for that I apologize to the members who've had brqs/appeals up for weeks, possibly even months. I won't speak on other staff's behalf but I can say a majority, if not all of us cared deeply for ENT but this is just a situation that didn't age well for some of us.
And lastly, thank you. For sticking around, for continuing to keep ENT alive even if it dwindled and especially to our own LIHL who I know will have to scramble and find a new home after us. Hope all goes well to you guys and to the rest of our members. It's truly been a ride being here at ENT as I'm sure it has for some if not most of you. Take care everyone.
This next part goes to aRt)Y, a former manager - You were one of the greatest managers to ever step foot in this community and I've never really told you that, personally. We've butted heads, disagreed, gone through various arguments and more but in the end - You cared for this community and you never once broke that professionalism that made you the manager we all knew and loved. Even in the dark times, I knew you were just looking out for the community and doing what's best - and for that, you will be remembered. I hope you manage to see this somehow, should you still occasionally pop-in from time to time.
To HazarDous - I'll be honest with you haz, I did not like you. Your situation coming into ENT and the whole NWU drama was already shaken my confidence in you and seeing you climb up to manager definitely didn't help that. But, in the end, you did come through. I know it must've not been easy to have been promoted and have the training wheels come off with aRt)Y leaving shortly after but the way you handled this community, the way you were able to continue it was admirable. You too maintained a level of professionalism and were able to clear/calmly handle anything thrown at you and for that you shall be remembered, as-well. I know I've never really told you any of this but you did a good job and my view on you turned around/only grew stronger as time went on. Hope the future for you brings only good, and farewell.
I do want to give a post to an old.. friend of mine. Mr. Hyo, I know you're not a part of this community anymore and aren't particularly fond of it nor it's staff/myself specifically. But, in the time you were in ENT and doing your thing - You did great. You put in a workload no other staff could even remotely compare to. I want you to know that I knew what you went through, being an only green admin and having to deal with pretty much every subforum here from ranges to appeals to requests to complaints so forth. but you did it anyways and I want you to know your work hasn't been forgotten. I know you will probably think nothing of this post and still hold the same view of me due to our own personal history - but I feel like no one really knew the amount of work you truly took on and only saw the bad in you when that chaotic period of ENT happened. But, I did/still do. Hope your future with FBG goes well, honestly. May not be friends anymore but I've never actually hated you, even if you to me. Be well.

Re: ENT shutting down
Here at last, on the shores of the sea, comes the end of our Fellowship.
I will not say, do not weep, for not all tears are an evil.
Not a bad run, but everything ends. Glad I got the chance to be a part of it. Thank you and good luck to all.

Re: ENT shutting down
So, does that mean ENT will be permanently shut down? If so, when will the last day to play be on? Sucks ENT has to end, it was great while it lasted. Wish I was around to see the better days. Good luck to all the mods and admins who have worked tirelessly to supply a free service for all of us. Thanks again, goodbye.

Re: ENT shutting down
Damn... And here I thought my dota days were going to be limited due to a map change or being banned into oblivion...
If I may prod regarding the details of the closure, is this something uakf.b knows about or is this just a consensus among the mods? (I.e. is uakf.b going to waltz back into ENT one day and be like "where'd everyone go?"). Is there any indication as to how long the servers will be around as a battle-net style "wild west"?
In all seriousness, I have a HUGE regard for ENT. During the Dotacash days I shit on the ENT servers and purposefully ruined games. When DC died, I was in the awkward situation of reluctantly joining this server. Initially, I hated it, but then a particularly bad mod quit and new mods like kappa, beerlord and arii who made ENT awesome. Those years were awesome. Even though ENT has been declining for a while, I have thoroughly enjoyed playing on it. I think the 5600+ games is a testimony to how thankful I am of ENT and its services.
As much as I wish uakf.b would come back and do another miraculous ENT save , I don't feel that will happen. I remember when the patch came out and everyone on ENT felt we had just been given a terminal diagnosis, the uakf.b came out of the blue an coded up an awesome new client and saved ENT. He will always be legend in my book!
Well to all of ENT mods and former mods (except nabo. and Astros) I thank you for your service. I apologize for my brash behavior, but I only did it to call out (what I saw was) unfairness. I really did care about ENT, and as you saw, fought vehemently to defend its integrity.
All the best everyone!

Re: ENT shutting down
For those who aren't that familiar with me, I was mostly dedicated to the LoD community of ENT. However, I do remember the days where I used to play on ENT bots for a variety of the games it hosted pre the merge with BGN. It's how I discovered all the different communities with all the friends that came along with it. I won't pretend I didn't know it was coming, the day ENT will finally shut down. After all the blizzard shit that happened, it sucked. Anyway, my point is the small journey I dedicated myself to with ENT(2 years) was fun and I wish I was here earlier and had a long run for all the good times I missed.
If I had to thank anyone it would be
-SWABS The Fearless Leader and all the people who stuck to playing ENT LoD even when there was a "better" version on RGC.
-CheW and Hyo for inspiring me to become a mod, it was definitely worth the experience.
-And of course, everyone else that was involved in making this community an experience to remember, you know who you are.
I wouldn't say this is the "end" of WC3 and all the communities that came with it. But we're saying goodbye to possibly one of the biggest reasons why the communities were started or continued, and that's ENT.
GG WP ENT. Thanks for the millionth time. Xd

Re: ENT shutting down
All good times must come to an end I suppose. After thousands of games here on ENT I can just say its been a good time with a hell lot of fun. Plenty of friendly players from across the globe that made the games interesting. Hope we can meet on a distant battlefield my friends and foes!
