If definitely means something. Not much but something.

It can give a rough idea of what level the player is at, but I think K/D/A gives a much clearer picture of how someone is likely to perform. The main problem with elo is that it is a system built purely for 1v1 scenarios - stretching it to 5v5 in the case of a game like DotA means it loses a lot of it's accuracy and validity.

Well k/d/a says not much, too. Think of a good supporter. He leaves every kill to a carry AND he suicides for given the carry the chance to life. In Addition many good supporters die often due low hp...

Both can be abused if u have good allys, that play with you. But u normally get a rough idea by combining winning quote, elo and k/d/a. ;-)

My body is splitting in two right now, yes it means something.. and no it doesn't.
It really depends on the player, if he is looking to be playing with some pros, then yes.
Otherwise, I don't see another meaning of elo.

look at the denies and the items they get, for me that usually tells their skill level. just like a 2000elo phantom lancer goin vlads first lol, pure noob whereas a 900 elo going radiance, diffusal or vanguard first.

Technically elo means your skills calculated over the games you've played crunched into a number. Everyone is calculated to show your ranking based on person above and below, higher elo, theoretically the better they are.

But ELO means nothing if you're just here to play the game, but if you want to be the best, it's something people look for.
Got it memorized?

Elo means a lot to players that play DotA and LoL. To me, elo is just a number that people obsess to much about.

It means the utter annihilation of human sanity. The deterioration of one's mental state in a distinct effort to achieve optimum stats.
