1) Farming and Denying: Here you truly have what seperates the pros from the noobs. A beginner will typically go for the kill, and try to harass instead of farm and deny.Unless you're a support, then harass and deny all you want :-) Also, please stack neutral camps. I've checked over most of my games now, and what I see is shit cs and 0 denies from both teams. Last hitting is important, in the laning phase, it is without a doubt the most important thing you can do to give yourself an advantage. Look at how much dmg your hero does to the creeps, activate the health bar in options, and start last hitting your way to victory. Unless you're support :(

Deny your enemy exp whenever you can. If you're lvl 7 without at least 15 denies, you failed your lane in my eyes.
The advantages should be clear: You achieve a new level faster than your adversories in the same lane, you deny them gold, and you annoy them :) Learn to last hit and deny, and you will see your games becoming much easier.

2) Map awareness: Getting ganked alot? Flaming your team for not calling a miss?
This is EXACTLY what you have the minimap for. Regard it was your rearview mirror in a car. It should be used every 5 seconds. Glance at it fast, make sure that everything is as it should be, then go back to whatever you were doing.

Winning your lane? check the other lanes and see if there's an opening for you to gank them. If possible, give the kills to your allies so that they may win their lanes as well. Take the kill if you're the carry. Supports don't need kills.

Use wards. Always, always, always! It costs 150g, gives you great vision for 3min.Actually it's 6 minutes. Or to put it into another perspective, it denies your enemies 260-520g from ganking your ass, and costs 3.4 creeps. Let the supports by them. Carries have better things to do with their gold.

3) Don't be greedy! Just don't do it.. It's not worth chasing him to their fountain, it's not worth trying to get the kill when you're only 30% hp. In LoL, this isn't an issue, which is why I suppose so many clowns manage to get further than they should in the ranking system they have. However, this is DotA, you die, you get punished. Not only are you dead for what sometimes seems like an eternity, but you lose a lot of gold.Unless the gold is reliable! Play safe, get 3 allies to join you in killing that fucker instead, and you'll be stomping down pubs in no time. More allies = more team gold :-)

haha :p

Thanks for adding and great input! Thumbs up all the way for you bro :)

For you to expect beginners to know how to cs/deny is just fail.. cs/deny is situational!! you should know this by now with 8years of dota experience!!! shouldn't you?

Which is why this is a CHECK list. Meaning, when you learn it you go "check"....

How in the hell is farming situational during early game? Not to be insulting towards you, but that's just about the dumbest thing I've ever heard... If the enemy team wants to roam and do 5 man ganks lvl 3, then let them. Have 3 heroes camped in 1 lane, and 2 others in each seperate lane farming and you'll win by default.

Denying enemy creeps is also something you do automatically as a player (at least if you have any experience more than just shedding diapers).

Thanks for the terrible input though, I'd appreciate it if you kept ignorance out of my posts. Just for future reference of course.

Why would a beginner play in organized games?!?

CM, RD are for IH and VIP games, I haven't seen them hosted as pubs since dota actually had some quality players left...

Yes, because in pubs, all supports outfarm the carries. They also dont buy couriers and doesn't ward.

Oh wait, do beginners pick supports? No? Again, as I said, unless you have something meaningful to contribute with other than being a cunt, fuck off.

I'm not getting trolled, I'm the witness to an utter retard going berserk on this forum.

I was being sarcastic telling you that even beginners aren't retarded enough to believe supports are supposed to farm instead of harass the enemy carries, ward and buy supportive items.

Beginners get carries 99% of the time because they see experienced players steamroll with them. I think that because I have approximately 4000 hours of DotA in my CV, instead of being a pub whore gone "pro" in ENT whilst thinking you're worth the salt of the earth.

I do know everything, and I am so fucking pro.

I also think it's sad that kids like you don't learn something and use the knowledge old schoolers have and rely on.
Oh well, I guess that's why you'll be nothing more than an average player within a group of below average players.

Thanks, but that's like a sociopat telling the narcissist to "keep it real".

As a noob I came here to learn something and saw this. You remind me of a girl I had to do a project with few months ago. Besides us there were several guys and as a group we "owned" a fictional company that has to compete with other groups/companies. She was such a clever girl, but when asked for opinion on the strategy she kept suggesting: "we need to make more profit!"

Of course denying/last htting is very important, sherlock! :P I was hoping you could give us some tips on 'how'. Some tips on how to better estimate the attack animation time etc..
And the thing about 15 creep denies and lvl 7.You got to be kidding me. Fail if you do not deny at least 15? considering that your lane partner has to do the same in first 10 min., I wonder how many creep denies a pro player has to achieve in order not to fail.
(not to mention that creeps do not spawn every 10 secs)

rest is nice:)

Attack animation is something that comes with time. There are probably alot of players who can tell you the exact number of msec it takes for i.e lina to attack, I can't though. With each hero as you get to know them, it's more of a touch and feel.

In regards to creeps denied, this is for mids. If you go carry together with a support/duo lane, I expect the support to harass and deny creeps. I will of course do it myself if it doesn't interfere with my farming or harassing the enemy hero.

Imo, a 30 denies average per game should be just that, average. It's the same as driving a car. At first you have alot of things on your plate and have to keep your tongue in your mouth. However, with time and experience, you don't think about it anymore, you just do it.

In any case, farming is a touch and feel thing. It comes with time and practise. Yes, it's a "more profit" situation, but unless you're aware of the fact that it's a problem, you won't go looking for a solution to the problem, now will you? :)

Huh, some random pubby easymoder make a stronk comment? Stronk contribution to the topic!

On topic: yeah, lasthitting is something that comes with practise. It's a matter of having enough patience. Most pubbers won't have the patience to lasthit; they fail to see the gain, xp-and-itemwise.

Yeah, playing normal dota is way worse than playing a mode where you get gold thrown after you. Or was it the other way around?
